Comedy Sci-Fi Spoof Yucca Man! now on kickstarter.com

March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Using alien technology the Army transplants a soldier's brain into a cactus for covert ops in the desert.  But Project Frankenvine goes awry when Yucca Man escapes.  This movie is based on monster and alien movies made since the 1950's with a tip of the hat to newer films.  A preliminary video was shot without funds as a way of defining the future budget and special effects involved in making such a feature.  The project turned out to be a success and has proved to be quite popular on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.  

Rivers Entertainment is now seeking start-up funding on www.kickstarter.com/yuccaman with an eye toward seeking investors under the IRS tax code 181 which allows an investor to recoup up to 100% of a one million dollar investment in an American-made feature or television show.

At kickstarter.com a person can donate to a project just for support or they can select a reward for their donation based on the amount of that donation.  Yucca Man! is providing Thank You notes for as little as a dollar donation; a bumper sticker: "I'm a sucka for Yucca" (Man!) for two dollars. Higher donations receive coffee mugs, posters, scripts, cast photos, DVDs, Alien masks used in the movie and even the actual nine foot tall Yucca Man costume.

"We only have until April 15th to collect $330,000 or no money will be released to us as a way to protect the donors."  Jordan Rivers, writer-director and one of the producers of Yucca Man! revealed.  "Kickstarter is a fantastic website that brings creative projects to light in their early stages so that everyone can be involved in their evolution, not just industry people."
