Follow on Google News | Nestle to Double Coffee Capsule Output at Spanish Plant With CHF64Mln InvestmentNestle said Friday that it planned to double output of its Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee capsules through a CHF64 million investment in a new international production facility in Spain which will create 150 additional jobs at the site.
The global nutrition group said in a statement that the new production line for the coffee capsules will form part of the Nescafe Dolce Gusto site at the Nescafe factory in Girona, near Barcelona, which is the largest Nescafe factory in Europe. Nestle said it will ramp up output to over 2.5 billion coffee capsules a year by 2012 for export to more than 20 European countries, as well as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The company's Nescafe Dolce Gusto site already produces around three million coffee capsules per day. The CHF192 million Nescafe Dolce Gusto facility, built in 2008 at Nestle's existing Nescafe factory in Girona, has achieved record production levels since operations commenced in 2010. Nestle said it will employ a total headcount of 400 staff by 2012 as production expands to meet growing consumer demand for the Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee system. The at-home coffee machine system can make hot and cold drinks and offers 16 varieties of coffee capsules including Cappuccino, Macchiato, Chococino and Cappuccino Ice among other varieties.
