March 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Molly Maid of Chapel Hill and the Ms. Molly Foundation will host “The Best Kentucky Derby Party in Chapel Hill,” 4:30-7 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at Top of the Hill’s Great Room in Chapel Hill.

Attendees will be able to watch the 137th Run for the Roses on the big screen to cheer on their favorite horses, and the event will feature entertainment by the Ken Broun Jazz Trio and prizes for the guests who sport the Best Kentucky Derby hat.

Single tickets are $37 or two for $70. To reserve tickets, visit http://www.fvpcoc.org or send checks to PO Box 17192, Chapel Hill, NC 27516, made payable to the Ms. Molly Foundation.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Violence Prevention Center of Orange County (FVPC), whose mission is to prevent and end domestic violence through direct services and community education. The agency serves victims and survivors of domestic violence through several phases of a relationship, from crisis onward.

FVPC is the only agency in Orange County providing a safety net for those living in and/or trying to escape a violent relationship. Last year FVPC responded to more than 1,400 crisis calls and provided direct services to 805 survivors of domestic violence. The need for services has increased, yet public and private funding has decreased. It is vital to continue to provide free services such as a 24-hour hotline, court advocacy, support groups, crisis intervention for adults and children and emergency shelter placement.

Sponsorship opportunities for the Derby Party are still available. Money raised via sponsorship will provide FVPC critically needed funding, and sponsorship investments range from $500 to $2,500.  For more information about sponsorship, contact Jane Leserman Madison, FVPC Board member, at JLes@med.unc.edu or (919) 933-8886.
