The Nissan Leaf is Here! Come Test Drive Nissan’s First 100% Electric Car at Criswell Nissan!

March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- No gasoline needed to operate the Nissan Leaf since it runs on an electric motor powered by a massive battery pack! The Leaf is Nissan’s first 100% electric vehicle and can travel up to 100 miles when fully charged!

The battery pack can be charged with either a standard 220-volt home outlet or a quick-charging station. Nissan Leaf owners can install a quick-charging station right at home!

The Nissan Leaf is a four-door hatchback that can seat up to five passengers. The zero emission Leaf is equipped with a 107 horsepower electric motor. The electric motor is generated by a 90 kilowatt lithium ion battery pack.

According to Nissan, it takes up to eight hours to fully charge the Nissan Leaf with a conventional outlet and only 30 minutes for an 80 percent charge with the quick charge station.

The Nissan Leaf is engineered with a small panel on the front hood with plug-in points underneath. Since the Leaf is a zero emission car, it does not have a tailpipe.  

The new Leaf is available in two trims: the base SV and the SL.

Standard features on the base SV trim include Nissan Intelligent Key and Push Button Start, Bluetooth hands-free technology, remote keyless entry, steering wheel-mounted controls, an audio system with MP3 playback, XM Satellite Radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, iPod interface and a Nissan Navigation System.

The SL trim offers additional features like a solar panel for extra charging and a rearview camera.

Owners can use their phones to start the heating and cooling systems before they get in the Nissan Leaf with the smart phone integration feature. The phone connectivity feature is also designed to allow owners to set charging times!

The 2011 Nissan Leaf offers a dash-mounted display that highlights nearby charging stations that are compatible with the Nissan Leaf.

Safety features of the Leaf come with Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage supplemental front air bags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags.

Other safety features include Vehicle Dynamic Control, a Traction Control System, Electronic, Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, 4-wheel Anti-lock Brakes, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System and a Lower Anchors and Tehters for Children (LATCH).
