Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker Proclaims May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day

Today Governor Scott Walker proclaimed May 1st a day to honor the combat wounded, ill, injured and dying of the Armed Forces from the state of Wisconsin.

Today Governor Scott Walker proclaimed May 1st a day to honor the combat wounded, ill, injured and dying of the Armed Forces from the state of Wisconsin.  

By signing the proclamation, Wisconsin becomes the 50th state in the Union to make May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day.  

The Silver Star Families of America sponsors Silver Star Service Banner Day, and is a non profit organization whose mission is to remember, honor and assist the combat wounded, ill, injured and dying of our Armed Forces from all wars.

Steve Newton, National President of the SSFOA stated, “We are gratified that Governor Walker has chosen to remember the veterans from Wisconsin whom have given up so much in defense of their State and this country.”

Newton continued, “Now every state in the Union will have one day to honor and remember the combat wounded, sick, injured and dying of our countries wars.  It is our obligation as a Nation and as a free people to never forget.”
