Special Musical Presentation at Bethlehem Lutheran Church - “The Good Shepherd in Words & Music”

March 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Under the direction of Choirmaster and Organist, Stephen Wilson, the 15-member choir will perform musical selections based on the 23rd Psalm and will include special anthems and familiar hymns along with narration.  It will feature music by Tchaikovsky, traditional hymns including "The King of Love My Shepherd Is," "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" (with flute solo), "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and other selections.        

The 23rd Psalm’s simple, yet eloquent phraseology makes it one of the most famous and well loved Biblical passages, and serves as the inspiration for the presentation.  

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Stephen Wilson has served in the position of organist and choir director at various churches in the Northeast for more than thirty years.  He has been Choirmaster and Organist with Bethlehem since 1997.  In recent years, Bethlehem’s Choir has grown in both size and scope.  In addition to providing choral accompaniment at Sunday services, the Choir now performs special musical presentations several times during the year.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church is located on the corner of 4th & Ovington Avenues in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Its services are held Sundays at 10:30AM.  More information is available at www.bethlehembayridge.org.   Attendance is open to all at no charge.
