Devitt strengthens the partner team at Chantrey Vellacott DFKA leading Midlands accountant has been appointed as a partner at a national firm with a growing presence in the region.
Bill Devitt has joined the partner team at Chantrey Vellacott DFK in Birmingham after some 28 years with Baker Tilly. And Devitt is set for a further move with Chantrey Vellacott DFK as they prepare to relocate to their new home once renovation work on the Grade II listed 35 Calthorpe Road building is completed in May. Devitt (48) studied managerial and administrative studies at Aston University and carried out his accountancy training with Kidsons Impey in Birmingham, prior to the firm’s merger with Baker Tilly. In 1997 he moved to Baker Tilly’s Coventry office to become partner and later enjoyed four years as office managing partner before returning to the second city in 2007. Devitt, who lives in Kenilworth in Warwickshire, has a strong background in auditing and working with the commercial, charity and education sectors which he says makes him well suited to Chantrey Vellacott DFK. “This is a great opportunity for me at a firm which has an exciting future with big growth plans ahead and the imminent move to the impressive new office on Calthorpe Road,” he said. “Chantrey Vellacott, through their 10 regional offices, is a major player in the charity sector so I feel my experience makes me a good match for the firm and I believe I can help the practice build on its already strong presence in the West Midlands. “I enjoyed a long association with Baker Tilly but have known of Chantrey Vellacott for many years and after meeting the partners I felt the time was right to take on this exciting new challenge.” Suk Aulak, head of office at Chantrey Vellacott DFK in Birmingham, said Bill will be at the forefront of the firm’s planned expansion in the Midlands. “Bill has joined us during an exciting time for the firm as we prepare to move to the new building,” he said. “He is vastly experienced and will help us strengthen Chantrey Vellacott’s offering as a not-for-profit and education centre of excellence in the Midlands.” Chantrey Vellacott DFK has a 40-strong team based in Birmingham and is an independent member firm of DFK International, an association of independent accountancy firms and business advisers. DFK International is ranked amongst the top 10 global accountancy associations and consists of more than 300 offices in almost 100 countries.
