Follow on Google News | Norway's Thin Film Electronics Creates High Tech Advisory PanelNorwegian technology group Thin Film Electronics ASA said Wednesday that it had established a new technology council which will advise the company on the latest technological developments related to printed electronic components.
Thin Film said the council would be headed by Ana Claudia Arias, co-chaired by Jiro Kasahara and also consist of Donald Lupo. Thin Film chief executive Davor Sutija said the panel's three members are among the world's "foremost scientists" in the field of printed electronics. The council will provide Thin Film with input on how take advantage of the latest technological developments to combine memory technology with other printed electronics components. Arias is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. Kasahara is a professor at Japan's Hokkaido University in the Catalysis Research Center, and established the Sony Fusion Domain Laboratory in 2001. Lupo is a Professor of Electronic Materials in the Department of Electronics at Tampere University of Technology, where he leads work in organic and printable electronics, including printed diodes, transistors and solar cells. Thin Film Electronics markets fully-printed non-volatile rewritable memory for applications in electronic toys and games, logistics, sensor and identification systems. It is developing technology with printed logic circuitry which will be able to produce ID tags, sensor tags, and disposable price labels. The company said that industry research anticipates that the printed electronics market is expected to grow to over $50 billion in annual market value over the next 10 years.
