March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Locals are in for a treat this Thursday, March 10, when romance writer Jennie Marsland hosts her first book launch in Halifax at The Company House.  The event will take place from 6-8 pm at address 2202 Gottingen Street, Halifax.

Jennie will read from both of her published works, “McShannon’s Heart” and “McShannon’s Chase.”  Both books are part of her Wallace Flats series and tell stories of the McShannons of Morgan County, Georgia.  The stories are set during the America Civil War.
Jennie gives readers a teaser about one main character from “McShannon’s Heart,” Chelle: “When Rochelle McShannon accompanies her father to his old home in the Yorkshire Dales after her mother’s death, she thinks she’s leaving everything that matters behind her – including the man she expected to marry. When tested by the divided loyalties of the looming Civil War, she can’t choose love over her bond to her family. Chelle wonders if she’s even capable of the kind of love that can overcome bitterness and grief, the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.”

Attendees at Jennie’s book launch in Halifax can expect not only readings but music provided by local talents Everett McInnis and Katherine MacGillivray.
