Scott, an independent consultant with the award-winning company, is HOSTING A FUNDRAISER to “HELP A FAMILY IN NEED”. Here’s a brief story of Love and Devotion: Gene and Jane Marvin, raised 7 children while saving and preparing for retirement, their whole lives. In 2000, Gene retired from Texaco, where he was employed for 35 yrs. They were stable and financially able to make such a change, so they thought. In 2002, Gene, one night woke up bleeding and later was diagnosed with Colon Cancer and was given 2 yrs. Gene began Chemo and the medical bills started building. In 2004, Gene fought and beat the Drs. prediction but then Jane was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer and had to have a Hysterectomy. As the years continued, so did the medical and medication bills, to a point of draining their savings and All income. Amazingly today, 9 years later, Gene is still fighting but the stress now of possibly losing everything they worked their whole lives for, is taking a toll on him and his health. “Gene needs ALL his strength to continue to fight and is now on the losing end of it because of the added stresses life is weighing on him” states a family member. “I WANT AND NEED TO HELP THIS FAMILY” says Scott. “I am praying that everyone will open their hearts to this family and help in this cause. If we can relieve just a little bit of stress from this gentleman and his family, then maybe, we can help Gene in his fight a little longer”. “Nurturing the community in which we live is one of Tastefully Simple’s core values and an important part of our consultants’ “I’m proud to be a part of a company that is concerned about communities and encourages its consultants to take an active, effective role in caring for that community,” Scott says. “This family has been fighting this disease for over 9 years. Gene is an amazing man and his strength should be an inspiration to us all.” Scott’s “HELP A FAMILY IN NEED” event is from March 5-30, 2011.
