Billy's one in a million

March 1, 2011 - PRLog -- It’s not every day that a car dealer hands over nine sets of keys to the same customer but seventy-five year old Billy Lewis, from Hemel Hempstead, is no ordinary pensioner, he’s quite literally, one in a million.

At the age of 48, Mr Lewis suffered a stroke and underwent major brain surgery in 1984. At the time, the surgeons gave him the slimmest of odds of survival and he was told he would never walk again.

Not only did he learn to walk again, Billy was driving again in a year and a half and still maintains his passion for motoring, his other being football. A lifelong Tottenham Hotspur supporter, Mr Lewis was in the crowd at Wembley Stadium at the 1966 World Cup Final.
Since his operation, he has owned 11 new Honda cars, nine of which he has bought from Brayley Honda in Hemel Hempstead.

Today sees the launch of the new ‘11’ vehicle registration prefix and Mr Lewis was in bright and early to collect his latest purchase, the 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid.

Commented Mr Lewis, who has lived in Hemel Hempstead for 39 years:

“A combination of willpower and faith has helped me beat the odds that were stacked against me. I do love driving and I always feel safe and secure when I’m behind the wheel. I guess I’m something of a petrol head having had so many cars over the years but now I’m delighted with my new Hybrid.”
