This model of coffee grinder was recommended to me by a friend who used to manage at the cooperate coffee chain we have all heard about. He got the same model for a friends wedding, and had owned this model for several years before. I just had to review this Cuisinart as I was cleaning it today and it has been such a stalwart performer for me. I drink a cup every day, usually in the press pot method. The unit does a good job of grinding to the appropriate size. It does a great job of fine espresso grinds for my Moka style stove top brewer, and coarser grinds for a drip or press pot. I have used burr grinders that cost several hundreds of dollars at professional coffee houses and they all create the same dust complained about in other reviews. Paying more than this grinder costs basically gets you more style that function, and I think this unit looks just fine. Holds plenty of coffee, easy to clean and no reliability problems. I would look towards the negative reviews with suspicion. This is the unit to buy, a huge step up from the propeller blade style grinders. Fresh ground bean coffee is most excellent and this Mill will deliver the goods consistantly, time after time. If you take the price, and intended consumer into consideration, this is the perfect grinder. If you are making coffee with a drip or coffee press, SHAZAM this is it, worry no more. If you use the adjectives 'subtle touch of nutty fragrance' or 'astringent nose but strong earthy tone overall' when you describe what you want from a cup of coffee, why are you looking at ANYTHING in this price range? I use this for both drip and press, and it's perfect. It's a little loud, but I've come to enjoy the fact that the whole house knows I'm about to make coffee. If you are a ninja, or someone who likes to make coffee in secret, look somewhere else. As a card-carrying regular person (when it comes to coffee, don't ask me about the obsessive-compulsive kabuki dance I have to do to eat chicken wings and ribs), this is perfect.
