|  Apple Prepping New Android-Like Lock ScreenApple is reportedly borrowing some Android technology. The iPhone maker is working on a new lock screen that is similar to the "dots" system used on Android devices, 9to5Mac has uncovered.
By: wholesaleeshops The system would abandon the current four-digit passcode needed to unlock the screen on iOS devices. Instead, a custom pattern of swipes between nine dots would be employed. "Use as many strokes as you want in your gesture," the screen invites. 9to5Mac said this system already being used internally on the "Apple Connect" app for employees. The dot system might never make it to consumer products, however. Google likely has a patent on the program, 9to5Mac surmised. But it could be used in apps used by Apple retail employees or other internal programs. A revamped home screen wouldn't be a shocking development on the next iPhone or iPad, however. It's been rumored that Apple products would lose the home button when iOS 4.3 debuts this spring. The home button would first be absent from the operating system, and it could eventually be absent from devices like the iPad and iPhone altogether.
