Paw Pals Pet Adoption Center Seeks Financial Pledges for Utility Bills

Paw Pals is about to open the doors to its new pet adoption center in Hillsboro, TX. Six years of volunteer work and fund raising have led to a sustainable animal adoption facility. Pledges are requested to help with monthly utility costs.

March 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Hill County Paw Pals is opening the doors to its new -- and much needed -- pet adoption center in which homeless, adoptable dogs and cats can be united with enthusiastic and caring new pet owners. Over six years of research, planning, organizing and fund raising by tireless volunteers have brought the Hill County community a sustainable shelter for abandoned, yet family-friendly pets. As it opens its doors to abandoned pets, Paw Pals needs individual pledges to help defray the monthly utility costs associated with the new center.

Pledges to assist with monthly water, electric, propane and property insurance can be made to Paw Pals by contacting Mike Hendricks at 254-580-0679 or hcpawpals@yahoo.com.

Paw Pals Pet Adoption Center was built upon the firm conviction of its volunteers and community supporters that something must be done to remedy the horrific consequences of pet overpopulation in Hill County. These consequences include health, economic, legal and safety liabilities. Pet overpopulation and abandonment generates an increase in dog bites, roaming dog packs killing livestock and endangering people, traffic accidents and the spread of rabies.

Paw Pals is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation whose continuing goals have been to 1) facilitate installation of a county animal control program, while promoting and contributing to building a county animal shelter; and 2) challenge the overpopulation of unwanted companion animals (dogs and cats) through four simultaneous programs -- Education, Legislation, Spay/Neuter and Adoption. Its new Pet Adoption Center is located at 1500 South Abbott Avenue (south of Hillsboro High School on Hwy 81).

Paw Pals Accomplishments to Date
1) Introduction of low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination programs. (Approximately 3,000 pet sterilizations -- preventing the birth of nearly 24,000 first generation unwanted dogs and cats.)
2) Continued growth of an adoption/foster care pet program -- facilitating the placement of hundreds of pets into new homes, pure bred rescue groups and surrounding shelters .
3) Purchase of 3-acre property that includes a 6,000 s.f. warehouse that has been converted into a clean, modern pet shelter. Thus far the community has helped Paw Pals raise over $450,000 to make this pet adoption center a reality.
4) Continuous work with elected officials of Hill County, its communities and volunteers to develop a county-wide animal control program.
