Feb. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day started as an event to honor Union soldiers, who had died during the Civil War. It started in South to honor their love ones, who died during the war. Later, it was extended to include all men and women, who died in any war or military action.  Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day. But after World War ll it was the day of remembering all soldiers, which died during the Wars Memorial Day was held on May 30, regardless of the day of the week, on which it fell. In 1968, the Uniform Holidays Bill was passed as part of a move to use federal holidays to create three-day weekends and from 1971, Memorial Day holiday has been officially observed on the last Monday in May. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day and displaying small American Flags, US Army flags, US Marine Corp flag, POW MIA Flags, Military flags, US Air Force Flag, US Navy Flag, US Coast Guard Flag.
It is traditional to fly the flag of the United States at half mast from dawn until noon. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place a large or small American flag on each grave in national cemeteries, flags on the flagpoles on the lawns, car flags. Same organizations and volunteer organizations are making Fields of Flags, where hundreds of small 12x18’’ American flags on the staff are displayed in the parks, fields, in front of the churches and synagogues, schools and organizations. This tradition is growing every year. Look around, and you can see large or small American flags on residential houses on  the flagpoles aluminum of wooden, large or small flag poles, Giant American Flags on aluminum flagpoles on businesses and schools. During Memorial Day thousands of American flags will be displayed all over from east to west, and all of us should be a part of this
Just remember, we are Americans and let’s all of us show our honor and pride, fly an American flag and remember man and women, who lost their life for freedom and piece.
