Swift Water Rescue Training by River City Rescue, LLC

Feb. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Swift water rescue training is being taught by Instructors from River City Rescue, LLC - a Memphis, TN based company made up of expertly trained veteran firefighters with extensive backgrounds in rescue specialties.  River City Rescue teaches fire fighters, industrial workers, and people how to save themselves and others.

With real-life scenarios, students are provided with experience for responding to emergency situations.  

There are 3 main courses River City Rescue teaches in regards to swift water rescue, the courses are:
Water Rescue Awareness: Awareness level training includes procedures for recognition of hazards associated with water incidents and the procedures necessary to mitigate these hazards within the general rescue scene. Skills taught include size-up of existing and potential conditions and identification of the resources necessary to conduct safe, effective water operations. Students will learn basic procedures for implementing their emergency response system for water incidents as well as site control and scene management techniques. Our courses are tailored to your individual resources, goals and needs.

Water Rescue Operations: Students will be taught use and selection of personal protective equipment, rescue gear, survival swimming and self-rescue. Student will learn site management procedures, and management of shore-based rescue operations. Student will assist technician-level personnel with rigging rope based mechanical advantage systems. Student will be taught proper procedures for operating boats and other water-craft used by their specific organization. Student will be taught rescue techniques including surface water-based search operations, extrication of accessible victims, managing heat and cold utilizing PPE, safe and effective use of victim packaging devices. Our courses are tailored to fit the needs, goals and resources of your individual department or jurisdiction.
Course length 16 hours.

Water Rescue Technician: Technician Level functions include technical and management level procedures required to plan and implement a response consistent with the specific organization's capabilities, including both boat-assisted and boat-based rescues and tethered and untethered rescues. Our technician level training is scenario based, teaching the student how to function in the actual role as rescuer and actually applying the techniques learned to this point. The students final test is a night time rescue scenario that is ended when the rescue is complete. This course can be tailored to fit the needs, goals and resources of the individual department or jurisdiction.
Course length 24 hours.
