The continued rebound of the office furniture industry seems to be fueling the growth for increased shipments to the Northeast. A quarterly activity index for the office furniture industry improved this month to its highest level in three and a half years.

“I think we will see this industry come out of this recession more rapidly than was previously predicted,” Michael Dunlap of Michael A. Dunlap & Associates said. The office furniture industry topped out at $13.2 billion in shipments in 2000 before falling into two deep downturns, from 2001-03 and in 2009
