Standing Room Only, H.E. Admiral M.L. Usni Pramoj Classical Music Concert in Phuket, Thailand

Phuket residents were delighted by this rare event and extraordinary performance at Mom Tri’s Villa Royale, Phuket Thailand.

Feb. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- In a celebration of classical music and culture H.E. Adm. M.L. Usni Pramoj, personally invited by Mom Tri came to Phuket to perform at Villa Royale, continuing the tradition of the Baan Kata Arts Festival, a celebration of art and cultural events at Villa Royale.
Although he was never formally educated in music  H.E. Admiral M.L. Usni Pramoj  has become an accomplished musician and composer including being the co-founder of the Bangkok Symphony and has played jazz together with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
He did play in the university band at Oxford, when he was studying to become a barrister. Currently he is also  Privy Councillor and is well recognized in Phuket as he is  the  personal representative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej during the annual  King’s Cup Regatta award ceremony in Phuket.
The quartet played to a sold out show of an audience of over 100 people. Prior to the show Mom Tri could be seen socializing with the attendees, the majority of them from the local expatriate community.
Mom Tri received many requested to have classical music concerts a regular event at Villa Royale, which was once his private home.

The quartet played two compositions, the first one was  by Joseph Hayden, followed by a piece composed by  H.E. Adm. M.L. Usni Pramoj during the turmoil in Bangkok in 2010.
“The first movement portrays rural life, a life by no means luxurious but adequate in its simplicity.
In the second movement, demonstrators sweep over Bangkok and now occupy key areas of the city. Government attempts at peaceful negotiations are brushed aside. Violence breaks out.
The third movement expresses an outpouring of grief for the hurt inflicted upon this lovely nation.
The last movement does not tell a story because such has yet to come to pass. Instead, it projects the hope that Thais will come together to rebuild the nation. That we shall once again be united in peace!” explains H.E. Adm. M.L. Usni Pramoj
H.E. Admiral M.L. Usni Pramoj performed the viola, with Tasana Nagavajara  and on the Siripong Tiptan on violin and Kittikhun Sodprasert on the violoncello.
The quartet received a standing ovation and concluded with a movement from Hayden.
After the performance the musicians held a   questions and answers session for the media.
H.E. Admiral M.L. Usni said that as he was very troubled what was  happening in Bangkok during the turmoil,  his real emotions were coming with   the composition.
He first played at Villa Royale over 20 years ago and expressed his pleasure at being invited to play again and to provide something that the people here wanted. “The venue here was great to play because it is so imitate and you are so close to the audience. It was the perfect place to play.”
