The New Miss Black Massachusetts USA

Announcing the crowning of Miss Black Massachusetts USA 2011, Claire Elise Johnson.
 
Jan. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Cape Cod native, Claire Elise Johnson was crowned Miss Black Massachusetts USA 2011 on January 8th 2011 at The Cambridge YMCA Theater in Cambridge Massachusetts.

Claire's crowning moment was just the beginning of a journey that will take her throughout the state of Massachusetts and beyond. During her year of service as Miss Black Massachusetts USA 2011, Claire will be speaking to audiences about her platform Generation ACTIVE: Accompanying Children Towards Increased Vitality via Exercise, where she will be engaging youths and their families in creating and maintaining healthier lifestyles. She will also be acting as a local spokeswoman for The Heart Truth: A Campaign For Women About Heart Disease, as well as the Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association. Along with the title of Miss Black Massachusetts USA 2011, Claire will have the opportunity of traveling to Washington D.C. to compete for the title of Miss Black USA.

Claire is the daughter of Larry and Julia Johnson of South Dennis, MA. A 2001 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, she then went on to complete her Bachelors of Science in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University. Claire also holds a Masters of Social Work from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. An avid performer, Claire has trained at The Ailey School in New York City, and performed a modern jazz dance to “He Lives In You.” From The Lion King: On Broadway.
