Carolina Consulting Ltd Research Suggests Facebook More Popular Than Google,

Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Hitwise statistics show that facebook.com accounted for 8.93 percent of US internet traffic leaving Google.com at 7.19 per cent.  These results are for the USA only but it does give an insight into Zuckerberg's confience in making this social networking site taking over as an internet power.

Facebook particularly over the past 12 months has increased popularity through various sources including the release of The Social Network film towards the end of 2010.  It was announced this week that the Winklevoss twins and their partner Divya Narendra have made new claims against Zuckerberg and Facebook.com for failing to disclose stock valuations violating the US Securities Act of 1934 cutting millions of dollars from their original settlement.

As Facebook takes the lead in traffic, the competition between Facebook and Google goes head to head.  Currently Facebook is dominating the social web while Google is the leader as an  information provider.  Facebook is looking to use its network and ability to communicate to move into providing information and website recommendations to its users at the same time there a rumors of Google developing their own Social Networking site.

It seems the battle between Facebook and Google is far from over and could signify a sequel to The Social Network film in 2011.
