Follow on Google News | Liquid Graphitti: by Neil O. CampbellA simple solution to urban graphitti tagging…
By: Neil O. Campbell Graphitti has been a major problem for public and private property for decades, but not much time has been invested in creating environments where artists can express themselves while at the same time build a career in something they love and enjoy doing. Most urban areas such as New York City spend millions of dollars each year to fight the forces of graphitti through policing, litigations and clean up. Most inner city youths such as graphitti artists have no public outlet to create and get recognition for their work; this is why they tend to use public and private property as their canvas. Through Liquid Graphitti it would cut down the uncontrolled phenomenon to almost zero, because graphitti artists would have the opportunity to express their talents, get public recognition and build revenue for themselves and their community. This agenda would drastically reduce the amount of hostility towards artist of this medium. Here is how it will work, the canvas will be controlled and dispensed by a retractable mechanism, where each month a new sheet can be available to any artist for their work to be displayed for thirty days. The liquid graphitti would be available in any length and size to fit on any wall surface. The program could be funded by the sale of the graphitti art, a percentage of the old budget formerly used to fight graphitti and donations from foundations that support the arts. If this solution is embraced it could create a public gallery in every urban area in the world where minds can become inspired by the free expressions of gifted graphitti artists. Let’s all liquefy our troubles into solutions that can fuel our imaginations. # # # Neil Campbell Architecture LLC is a relationship driven Design Company, practicing the art of refining, restyling and repackaging the best of all forms of architecture.
