By: Daniel Glickman, President SCSI Sherborn MA Later this month, residents will have an opportunity to learn about the Stretch Energy Code, one of the key requirements to achieving Green Community status. The Energy Committee has invited Michael Berry, project manager for the Massachusetts New Homes with Energy Star Program, to lead a public forum at 7:00pm on January 26, 2011 at Sherborn Town Hall to provide an overview of the code and answer questions from the public. The code increases the efficiency requirements of new residential and commercial buildings, as well as residential renovations that would normally require building code requirements. The state’s utility companies provide financial incentives for builders and homeowners that achieve these energy efficiency requirements. Historic homes would be exempt from the code. “We encourage the community of Sherborn to come together to hear about the benefits of the Stretch Energy Code and ask any questions about the guidelines,” # # # Sustainable Construction Services, Inc.
