| ![]() Optellios CEO Issues Year End AddressAn Open Letter from Our New Chief Executive Officer, David Smith – December 20, 2010
By: Optellios, Inc. I am very pleased to be joining Optellios as its new Chief Executive Officer! The moment I stepped into the business a few short weeks ago, I was impressed by an innovative environment that is inclusive, challenging, and thriving. The management and technical staff have poured a great deal of time, effort, and resources into creating a very unique and technologically advanced suite of fiber-optic security products and solutions. This company is ready to go to the next level! The past year witnessed a number of changes at Optellios, including the departure of the company’s founder in May, 2010. Despite the turmoil and with credit to the efforts of its core team, Optellios stayed focused and is on track to close another successful year. In 2010, the company completed a number of high-profile security projects in public utilities, chemical industry, transportation, government, and other areas. Other projects have been won and are slated for installation in 2011 and more are in the pipeline. Most importantly, we are focusing on building strategic partnerships and developing sales channels through major security system integrators in the United States and internationally. The company’s cut-immune intrusion sensor technology has been attracting the attention of the security industry heavyweights and is being widely recognized as the top solution for physical perimeter security. For the first time in the company’s history, an overwhelming majority of the projected sales in 2011 will be through our industry partners. Striving to provide our partners and end users with the most capable and cost effective solutions, Optellios is actively working on the next generation of technology and products. By the end of January, the company will have successfully completed the pilot year of its NIST-funded program to develop advanced fiber-optic sensing technology for civil infrastructure monitoring. Technologies developed over the course of this three-year program will allow Optellios to expand its product offering and application range, while at the same time further enhancingits core competency in intrusion detection and perimeter security. Looking forward to the near future, I see many challenges that we can immediately turn into opportunities. In order to do that, we will be looking to fill a few critical personnel slots and aggressively execute on an industry wide outreach program. In 2011, we will be launching several exciting new products and will continue building our brand as top-of-the-line in sensing and security. Happy holidays to everyone and thank you for this opportunity! David A Smith President and CEO, Optellios, Inc. # # # Optellios’ Fiber Patrol® division produces advanced fiber-optic intrusion detection and alarm management solutions, capable of accurately identifying and locating an intrusion to within a few feet for perimeters exceeding 10 miles in length, with the industry’s first intrusion sensor system that keeps working even if the sensor cable is cut.
