Now releasing his series of four fantasy novels, 'The Faeries of Birchover Wood.' Starting with book 1 – The Bad. Podcast Author Ian Rutter is giving them away as weekly episodes to anyone for download.

Jan. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- The story first starts in a time when a king rules England, and his knights serve the people of the land in times of injustice.

The peace and security is shattered when people report an evil monster destroying villages and eating everything, including people. From one village, the only survivor is a young boy found by a group of knights. They bring him to the king and after listening to his story, the king decides that it is time to face the enemy and vanquish it.

Requiring more than just steel to destroy the evil, the king calls up on the myths, legends and folklore of England and all answer his cry for help.

Faeries, Dragons, Boggarts, shape shifting goblins called Brags. Derricks the size of dwarfs. Knockers, mine spirits from Cornwall and many other creatures gather the king's  court yard. They, and the king's army form a formidable army.

The army face the monster they call the Bad. They use everything at their disposal to destroy the it, and eventually they manage to defeat it, but one bit still lives. One bit clings to life. Even the fiery breath from the dragons can't destroy it, so the King, myths, legends, and folklore conjure up a spell to imprison it forever.

The Bad is buried in the wood of Birchover, under a huge oak tree. The belief in myths, legends, and folklore keep the Bad from escaping, but as time goes on, the myths, legends, and folklore just become stories, and so the magic that keeps the Bad from escaping starts to weaken.

In our time, a family move into the village of Birchover. One day their son, Solomon, ventures into the wood. Losing his way he starts to make a crying sound. From out of nowhere, a young faery called Caitlin Lavender rushes to his aid and comforts him. She helps him get home, and after thanking her, he rushes to his mother.

From a distance the two of them are watched by something that knows about faeries and what they did with the Bad. The thing plans to use the boy and the rest of the faeries to free the Bad so that it can fulfill its destiny.

As Solomon is introduced to individual faeries, he is taken by the one who wants the Bad to escape. Deep underground.

Solomon emerges soon after, but he is not himself, he has been taken over by the evil monster that has waited 1000 years. It now wants to take revenge and destroy everything.

The faeries now have to destroy the Bad for good, but if they do that, they will destroy Solomon. How can they save the boy?

About the author
Ian Rutter was born in Stockport. Only when he and his parents moved to Burbage, Buxton, Derbyshire that Ian's imagination was turned on.

Being 5 years old and having a woodland just 2 minutes away from your house was the most exciting thing that could of happened to Ian, as well as living in a haunted house.

It was Grin Low Woods that helped open up his mind so that he began to create his characters that are found in his stories.

Naturally his love for stories grew and had readily written them down, but it was only when he got married in Taiwan and his wife was giving birth to their first child that he decided to write every one of the the Birchover stories into a four part fantasy series.

He has now nearly completed the full audio version of book 1. Each episode can be found at http://www.podiobooks.com/title/the-faeries-of-birchover-...

As well as writing, Ian loves computer systems, walking, reading, painting and drawing and mechanical engineering.
