Jan. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- (Baltimore, MD) January 2011 – February 17 – 19, 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Global Competitiveness Conference. This gathering of truly stellar individuals will be hosted by Lockheed Martin Corporation, US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine and The Council of Engineering Deans. 2011 Black Engineer of the Year Lloyd W. Howell, executive vice president of Booz Allen Hamilton, leads a new group of movers and shakers, trailblazers and innovators.

Other award categories recognize true pioneers who have achieved exceptional career gains in government and industry, who have already merited lifetime achievement recognition, and who have energized their companies and their communities alike. Black Engineer of the Year Awards alumni and some of our country's most promising students will also be recognized during this three-day event.

The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. is the venue for this three-day meeting of the minds. Thursday, February 17th, commences with the Opening Night Alumni Welcome Reception. On Friday, the Modern Day Technology Leaders Luncheon, professional development seminars, and the popular Career Coaching Roundtables take place. The evening concludes with the Sixth Annual Stars and Stripes Military Dinner celebration hosted by U.S. Navy. On Saturday, February 19th, the conference offers an opportunity to join the Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ (HBCU) engineering deans for their annual HBCU Power Breakfast, followed by the HBCU Deans’ Roundtable.  The career fair for college students and professionals takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and draws on-site recruiters from Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Gulfstream, Chrysler, IBM, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and many more.  

On the evening of the 19th, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the conference hosts the 25th Black Engineer of the Year Awards black tie gala.

Full profiles of the honorees will be featured in the conference edition of US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, to be published in February of 2011.
