New Avatar-like Laser Tag Arena Created

Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- The movie Avatar has reached blockbuster status and has been heralded as one of the best cinematic experiences ever.  A number of revolutionary effects were used in the production of the film which made it an epic visual masterpiece.

Creative Works, the world leader in designing and building themed laser tag experiences recently announced a new theme to its portfolio called Earth Quest that draws similarities from the Avatar movie.  This theme transports players to a distant planet where a futuristic industrialized world encroaches upon an untamed rainforest of twisted trees, strange creatures, and colorful species of plants.  This quest highlights the beauty that the earth provides with bright greens and blues while bringing the look of some of the top video games into the laser tag arena.

Creative Works recently installed this exciting new theme within the Branchburg Sports Complex in Somerville, New Jersey.  This new sports facility not only includes a laser tag arena, but also indoor soccer, batting cages, and a multitude of other sporting activities.  The 9,000 square foot laser tag area with 4 levels is currently the largest in the state.  Two separate teams were sent to complete this massive project with the task of creating a cohesive and eye-catching atmosphere.  “There were many challenges to create this theme and to configure the space so it played well,” said Jeff Schilling, Chief Architect of Experiences at Creative Works.  Two separate trips were made to review the plans with the architect, project manager, electrical engineer and owner to ensure things went together smoothly from a construction standpoint.  From existing infrastructure concerns to elevation changes, and traffic pattern flows, details were hammered out to accommodate this new look and expansive laser tag arena.  “We took the time to carefully move through this project methodically so we could seamlessly integrate this great new Avatar-like theme within the space,” commented Schilling.  “What was once an empty box has been transformed into a 3D environment straight out of the movies.”

Some of the incredible props and effects added inside this space included:  two 16 foot robotic BattleDroids with MP3 sound generators and LED lighting with futuristic camouflage; lighted acrylic computer-like screens; over 20 different colorful species of plants; 3 massive trees; and much more.  “The professionalism of the Theme Team and the education they provided from the start was outstanding,” said Mark Lauber, owner of the complex.  “Everyone who sees the tag is amazed to say the least.  Creative Works definitely delivered the WOW Effect and I’m glad I partnered with them during this project.”
