Perseverance Pictures Develops First Feature the Christian Drama “Too Young”

Armed with an original screenplay and a cast of non-professional actors Kevin Norwood and Lovelace Lee III seek to make their their first feature film

Dec. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES—Perseverance Pictures the team that produced “Saraella Ursery: Pillar of Bethel AME Church, Perris” documentary earlier this year is preparing to make their debut feature film. Producers Kevin Norwood and Lovelace Lee III will make the original Christian drama “Too Young” next year as a Direct-to-DVD product.
“We’re pleased to plan our first feature film,” says Norwood. “Too Young” is what happens when the old pastor of a small church dies suddenly and his grief-stricken congregation rejects his replacement because of his age. Lee was inspired by an article he read a few years ago. “I read interesting things all the time and make notes in an idea file that I visit months and sometimes years later.” A few weeks ago Lee took stock of what resources he had available and began writing “Too Young.” He felt the time was right to develop the idea that inspired him into an original dramatic screenplay. “Kevin and I are in this business to make the absolute best films we can with the resources we have and open doors for others. We don’t talk about what we don’t have. It’s smarter for us to step out in faith,” Lee says. “The Lord will provide.”
Twice in the past the partners welcomed other writers to join them in the process of polishing a screenplay. This time Lee and Norwood will be joined at the writer’s table by Cynthia Carlisle Fields, author of the book “In My Mother's Shoes: A Collection of Psalms, Poems and Short Stories.” Both Lee and Norwood are quick to point out that Perseverance Pictures was launched in 2005 to create opportunities for new entertainment talent like themselves. “It is humbling to have a chance to work with two talented writer-producers like Lovelace and Kevin Norwood. “Too Young” is destined to touch and bless many,” adds Fields. “Too Young” is her first screenplay.
Many years ago a friend gave Lee a copy of “Rebel without a Crew: Or How a 23-Year-Old Filmmaker With $7,000 Became a Hollywood Player” by one of his filmmaking heroes Robert Rodriquez. “I stay focused,” says Lee. “My job as a producer is to deliver the completed film. And I’m building the right team to see this goal to fruition.” Lee, directing his first feature will make use of a cast of non-professional actors like Rodriquez did in the 1992 release “El Mariachi.” Look for the Perseverance Pictures Christian drama “Too Young” in October 2011.
