New hotel management teamIt is a case of Friends Reunited at a top four-star hotel near Southampton following the appointment of a new-look management team.
General manager Patrick Cunningham has appointed Derek McNeill as hotel manager at The Legacy Botleigh Grange Hotel & Spa in Hedge End after previously working with him at Forte hotels in Fareham, Portsmouth and Southsea. And he has also appointed Sue Lyons as meetings and events manager who worked alongside Derek at the Hilton in Southampton where she was assistant food and beverages manager. Patrick said they both brought great experience, professionalism and flair to their posts at the four-star hotel in Grange Road. “We wanted to re-structure the management team as we look to build on our successes,” he said. “I first worked with Derek in 1993 when he was my deputy general manager so we have known each other a long time. “Derek has also worked with Sue so it is great to have all these working relationships already established because we know how we each operate and the strengths that we bring to our roles to keep taking this great hotel forward.” Derek’s CV also includes being deputy general manager a the Merton Hotel in Jersey for five years before leaving the island to open a brand new Holiday Inn Express in Folkestone. For the last 18 months, Derek has been at the Hilton in Southampton until joining The Legacy Botleigh Grange Hotel to be re-united with Patrick and Sue. Derek, who lives in nearby Locks Heath, said: “The Botleigh Grange is a fantastic hotel – I love it because it has great character. “Patrick is very supportive and we work well together. He has his key strengths and I have my key strengths and bringing them together will hopefully lead to the hotel further realising its potential. “I think it is a little gem which is waiting to explode on the conference and leisure scene.” Sue, who lives in Eastleigh with her two sons, Oliver, aged ten, and Elliott, aged nine, is responsible for 30 full-time and part-time workers in the conference and banqueting department. “I wanted a new challenge because I had worked at my previous hotel for ten years and this is a bigger venue for events,” she said. “It gives me a great chance to build up a good team and there is more scope to put my stamp on the conferencing aspect of the business.” For more information about Legacy Hotels and Resorts log on to www.legacy-hotels.co.uk Media enquiries: Michelle Wilson Advent Communications 2 Edison Building Electric Wharf Sandy Lane Coventry CV1 4JA Tel: 024 7663 3636 http://www.advent- # # # Advent Communications is a well-established public relations consultancy based in Coventry.
