Dec. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- The Barrie Curling Club is bringing High Performance Trainer Bob Palmer of SportExcel and his innovative systems-based workshop to Barrie and Central Ontario.  In the workshop, curlers—coaches and athletes—will learn cutting-edge strategies to create consistency and control the momentum of their game—fast mistake recovery, no intimidation, instant forgetting of mistakes, fast skill development.

“Many teams these days are hiring high performance trainers and athletes have very little patience when you don’t deliver,” says Bob Palmer.  “But when they find a system that is easy to understand, implement, and gets results “yesterday,” they buy in big time.”

In the last summer and winter Olympics, Bob’s athletes won gold (skeet shooting) and silver (snowboarding) and at the recent Commonwealth Games, four of his athletes attended and all four medaled.  “Bob’s approach is judged on his record,” says Gord Smith, manager at the Barrie Curling Club.  “And that is why we are bringing him here on January 8th.”

Bob brings the latest and most advanced high performance strategies to curlers in Central Ontario who want the edge.  “He has a successful record of working with athletes at all levels, as his approach is easy to understand and work into one’s games,” says Les Fraser, a recreational golfer and curler who has worked with Bob.  “My game is now way more consistent—curling and golf.”

Whereas most other approaches concentrate solely on the individual, Bob shows teams how they can dominate and control the momentum of the game through leadership.  “Athletes no longer operate in isolation,” says Bob.  “All team members learn to support each other to create a team synergy, game in and game out.  In the process, many problems simply disappear.”

Barb Wright is a business woman who uses Bob’s system for curling and ballroom dancing.  “When you use Bob’s strategies,” says Barb, “you can fix virtually any block to performance.  If you are a bit nervous, you fix it.  If you’re frustrated by the ice, you fix your frustration.  If you feel pressured by the other team, you fix the pressure.”

If you wish more information on the SportExcel System or to register for this limited seating workshop, please contact Gord Smith at bccl@barriecurlingclub.com or Bob Palmer at bpalmer@sportexcel.ca.  The workshop is open to all curlers.
