By: John Lee at John Lee MEDIA WHAT: In a display of journalistic and musical solidarity, THE IRISH-MEXICAN ALLIANCE will hold a concert on Wed., Dec. 8 to raise funds for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), which is raising awareness of the plight of journalists who are being killed, intimidated and forced to seek asylum in the U.S. while reporting on the Narco War across the U.S. border in Mexico. WHO: Speakers include Rubén Blades, the legendary Panama-born salsa singer, actor, and former Panamanian Minister of Culture, journalist Pete Hamill and author and event organizer TJ English Musical acts include NY-area bands Celtic Cross, Joe Hurley’s Rogues March, Larry Kirwan of Black 47, and Celtic singer/songwriter Ashley Davis.
