Nov. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- I always believed that the fax was invented just for me. In the 80's when I started my career, the fax machine was my best friend. I could get my hands on literally 'hot' documents and reports anywhere. I remember the first order i had bagged and the confirmation letter the client had faxed. I still remember holding the warm paper in my hand and the smudged letters on the paper staring at me. It was then, I think, I fell in love with the fax.
with the advent of the internet and e-mail, the technology decreed that the fax had lost its purpose and would be replaced. But, even today, the fax is an important aspect of my business. I still receive most of my sales reports by fax.  My sales force working from small towns, find it easier to fax the order forms signed by buyers, than to scan and e-mail the document. I still fax a lot many invoices and documents to my customers as they find it more convenient to receive faxes, make copies and file them away safely.
To keep up with the times, I had to integrate the fax into my digital workflow. Then, came the fax  solutions. These solutions addressed most of the issues with sending and receiving digital faxes. I could receive my documents as digital files, which in turn, I could pass on to my paperless workflow. I was able to merge my fax with my e-mail and use the digital files for archiving. But these solutions were expensive. It was not something a small business like mine could afford. They came with an heavy initial cost, a recurring monthly subscription fee and airtime charges for every sheet of fax sent and even received.
I started looking for an affordable and sane solution. My search took me to a smart solution from  EDVAC Information System Limited. MyFAX, from EDVAC Information Systems Limited is a revolutionary fax server, tailor made for me. I just picked up the very reasonably priced product (USD600) off the shelf and they have large sales network all over the world, convenient for us purchase wherever in the world.I plugged it straight in to my network. No great technical know-how was needed for the installation, just follow the simple instructions. Integration with my regular applications was a breeze. I could now log on to my server online from anywhere in the world at any time, access sent and received files, and also, forward and broadcast them. I maintain total control over all fax activities from any location, while continuing to use my existing fax numbers. myFAX is easy to maintain and saves time and money on professional maintenance contracts. myFAX has several useful features like fax broadcast, priority fax to send out that urgent fax immediately, breaking the queue, and scheduled faxing to automatically transmit that important fax at exactly the scheduled time. While sending faxes, even if the destination line is engaged, the server automatically queues up the transmission and resends it once the destination line is available, eliminating the need to wait near the fax machine.
Unlike fax service solutions, the device is physically held by me at my location. There is no transmission of data to external servers. Fax transmission is real time and does not get queued up in the service provider's server. The most important benefit of myFAX server is the complete security and confidentiality of all documents being sent and received. Incoming faxes are securely deliver into the server's physical memory, which can then be forwarded into the desired mail inbox or backed up.
Similar products existing in the market cost anywhere between USD2000 and USD200,000. At USD600, myFAX is a perfect, made-for-me solution. Add to this, the fact that there are no recurring monthly costs, no cost for incoming faxes and with the Fax over IP option, you can chose to send faxes over the internet without expensive long distance call costs. And when my internet line is down, i could still use the phone to send important faxes.
So the next time I receive a fax, delivered securely in my inbox,I will miss the feel of the warm thermal fax paper on my fingers. But, considering the amount of money I  used to pay for those thermal papers,I think this is a much better option.
