If you are reading this, my guess is that you are looking to build chest muscles, but more importantly you want to get big pecs. In layman's terms or those not used to gym talk, pecs are just the scientific name for your chest, short for pectoral muscles.

I am also going to guess that you are a hard gainer or someone that is getting tired of getting pushed around in and out of the gym. I am going to give you my exact plan that I used to gain, not only muscle size but strength as well. And it is a plan that any one can follow, I promise.

Pushing more weight means more strength and muscle.

It is true and if you don't believe me then look at others the next time you are in the gym. Who are the guys with the big pecs and arms? That's right it's the guy doing repetitions of 225 on the flat bench, not the guy using the chest press machine doing a set of 30 reps. You need to progressively get to this point. Incrementally increase the weight as you feel comfortable. You also need to cycle days of lifting heavy and lifting very heavy. For me, I had a hard time putting on muscle weight so I was always training heavily. Just listen to your body and you will be fine. Eat around the clock.

Okay maybe not literally, but it is pretty close. If you plan on putting on some mass and size that the ladies go gaga over, then you need to fuel your body. If your body does not have the right kind of fuel to start or replenish a work out then your muscles will suffer greatly. Getting approximately one gram of protein per pound of body weight is ideal, more if you are trying to put on weight. This often gets neglected. Nutrition plays a huge role in your muscle gain attempts. Eat on a regular schedule, every few hours or so, so that your body is ready for your next work out and can recover from your last one.

Keeping these two things in mind will have you putting up big weights as well as packing on solid muscle. Listen to your body and make sure you are pushing it, but not to the point where you are injuring yourself.

If you are looking to build chest muscles and big pecs, then you need to make some sacrifices. You need to dedicate yourself not only in the gym, but outside as well.
