Dec. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- One hundred golfers played in the Women’s Golf Club’s “Turkey Shoot” Jack and Jill Tournament on November 20. “It would have been a lot of fun, but we got rained out and called the tournament after nine holes,” says spokesperson Ura Furry.
Because the tournament was called, there were no final winners. Names were drawn for closest to the pin and teams for the first, second and third place winners in each of the flights. (Titleist 910 D3 Driver =http://www.enjoymygolf.com/goods-193-Titleist+910+D3+Driver.html)
According to Ura, the tournament was not a complete loss as they all met for turkey dinner and pumpkin pie. Tables were decorated in a festive fall theme.
“Rockelle Rogers, Marcie Nordman, Mike Simpson and the Titleist 910 D3 Driver staff did a great job,” says Ura.
She adds that the club appreciates the help they received from Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff, who prepared all the team flights, handicaps, cards and scoring. Ura thanks everyone involved in the tournament for their hard work.
The Women’s Golf Club annual Christmas Tournament and 2010 Board of Directors Installation will be held Tuesday, December 21. The nine-hole shotgun tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. Golfers may select their own six-some to play in this scramble format.
Immediately following golf, everyone will gather at the Lodge for lunch, annual awards presentations, prizes, money tree and the installation of the 2011 board of directors. It is customary for the individual teams to donate drawing prizes, usually in the form of gift baskets, to help defray expenses and make the celebration more special.     The entry fee is $35 per person. For individuals wanting to attend the lunch only, the cost is $20. Those not participating in the tournament are invited to join the festivities at 11:30 a.m. at the Lodge. The signup sheet is in the Pro Shop. For more information, call Dawn Haggerty at 244-6931 or Pat Spencer at 285-0857. The deadline to register for the tournament and for lunch-only reservations is December 7.
The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club meets regularly on Tuesdays to play 18 holes of golf. CLWGC is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association, which is responsible for handicapping services for the members. Applications are available in the Pro Shop.
