Citi Fx Trading Platform - With Over 5 Years of Forex Experience What Would I Do Different?

Five years ago when I heard the word Forex, it meant nothing to me. In fact, when I typed it into Google I typed "4X". I have often been asked what I would do differently to get where I am now sooner.

Although I thought I had read a great deal and knew a significant amount the first thing I did was go out and buy a trading system that cost $3,000 thinking that the system made sense and that it would provide a good return on investment. After having it 7 days and listening to the trainers in online seminars the following days, I decided it was not for me and returned it. Good for me, the company went out of business. First lesson, don't invest lots of money in the beginning no matter what.

I decided to do more research and ended up buying into an idea created by an ex-Citibank broker of over 20 years. The system was based on Fibonacci levels and seemed legit. However, after months of trying to get it to work for me, I realized that this was maybe not a sham but at best a system that had little logic behind it. Second lesson, don't buy someone credibility buy something that works.

My next stop was price action. Price action has some validity to it and I think traders who have studied it can make it work. Most however, have adapted it to meet their own understanding of price action as price action can have almost endless definitions and many things are added to most systems. Price action did teach me some fundamentals but it was not the best system to trade. Third lesson, some aspects of trading technique are beneficial, don't throw everything away. Next I pursued Elliott Wave. The only thing I can say about Elliott Wave is that after a year of reading the books, being a subscriber to a top Elliott Wave publication where updates were offered online constantly, participating with forums and following the top EW experts, is that confusion reigned. Not with me but with all of the participants trying to read the same chart and all having differing opinions. Fourth lesson, some things are more about process than actually trading, leave them alone.

My first big realization was the subjective nature of all of the methods I had learned. It wasn't until I discovered an objective trading signal did I start to make progress (thus the development of the RSI PRO Forex Trading System).

I haven't included here the year I spent taking online classes from one of the "top" Forex schools in the country and the hundreds of books, hours online, and actual trading.

To become a Forex trader takes time. It takes time to learn but it also takes time to absorb the information and then learn what does and doesn't apply. The best thing I can tell you is that you can make it and everyone will take different paths. Learn from some of my experiences, learn from your own, and in the end you will succeed.
