What You Need to Know About Medicaid

An updated version of the BASICS brochure has been released by the Society of Certified Senior Advisors. BASICS discusses some of the most-often asked questions about Medicaid.

Nov. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- The Society of Certified Senior Advisors has released an updated version of the BASICS brochure. BASICS answers some of the most often-asked questions about Social Security, Medicare, Medicare Supplements, Medicaid, senior housing, in-home care and long-term care insurance. This informative and easy-to-read, 38-page booklet was inspired by our Certified Senior Advisors (CSAs), who have taken the time to learn about the complexity of aging and how to help seniors find the tools to navigate that journey.

Excerpt from BASICS:

“Medicaid is the biggest financer of long-term care in the U.S. More than two-thirds of Medicaid spending for long-term care is on institutional services (nursing homes). The Deficit Reduction ACT of 2005 made it more difficult for people with higher incomes and assets to become eligible for Medicaid benefits for long-term care. Each state determines new limits based on federal guidelines.” The BASICS guide will answer all your latest questions on Medicaid, including:
1.  Can I keep my house and still use Medicaid?
2.  How much income can I have and still qualify for Medicaid?
3.  What is Medicaid Planning?
4.  Will Medicaid pay for home health care if I don’t go into a nursing home?
5.  and much more

This guide is available electronically or in printed format for Certified Senior Advisors only. CSAs can use this to pass along to their senior clients. This critical information will not only help them to age well but will genuinely make a difference in their lives.  To view a sample of this full color brochure, please visit http://www.csa.us/store

CSAs are able to integrate this into their professional practices, no matter what field they’re in. They’ve learned how incredibly gratifying it is to help seniors achieve their goals, and the seniors they’ve worked with have learned how important it is to work with someone who truly understands their age-related circumstances.  For more information about SCSA and its educational course, please visit http://www.csa.us.
