Nov. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- You may not be aware of it, but each time you apply for credit with any financial organization or company, a record of that application is stored with a credit reporting agency. Each time you pay a bill late, the company involved reports the late payment to a credit reporting agency.

Credit reporting agencies (also called credit bureaus) are constantly gathering information on your credit worthiness. They also keep a record of your personal information, such as your employment history and current and past addresses.

Whenever you apply to a financial institution for a loan, apply to a credit company for a card, apply to rent a dwelling from a landlord, or, under some circumstances, apply to a potential employer for a new job, the people to whom you are making the application contact the credit reporting agencies and request your file to discover how creditworthy you are.
