Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA – Jack Sheffield, Commercial Integrated Pest Management Professional (IPMP) with Peachtree Pest Control Co., Inc. helped inspect and treat a retail store located in the metropolitan Atlanta area, for the control of bedbugs.  Jack was accompanied by personnel from the store and two handlers with bedbug sniffing dogs.  The dogs – both rescued from shelters –are trained to find live bedbugs only (dead bedbugs do not need to be treated) .  Jack worked hours to rid the store of bedbugs located by the canines, with the use of a Cryonite unit.  The Cryonite method uses carbon dioxide (CO2) to produce a “dry ice” material that instantly kills any live bedbugs found, “freezing” them to death.  This method is also effective at preventing any bedbug eggs contacted from hatching successfully.  This technology eliminates the use of insecticides, yet is still effective.

Jack said that watching the dogs work was “absolutely cool”.  “They scratched at the spot or boxes to let the handlers know where they smelled bedbugs”.  Jack would then inspect the area himself and would treat with the Cryonite unit.  It took over 4 hours to inspect and treat the store.  Items found to contain bedbugs were treated and discarded.
