Paul Raff Studio won the 2009 Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s ‘Excellence Innovations In Architecture’ award for designing Bluepoint’s Louver Façade System, which was born from a simple idea to maximize landscape views while maintaining privacy for residents.  “The design of the louvered facades, preserves ocean views while providing visual privacy, but they also shade the sun. This significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon footprint,” Raff comments.

The louvers are made from a composite product made primarily of waste sawdust from the timber industry. The light gauge steel support structure facilitates locally executed, rapid and cost effective construction.

The key investors of Bluepoint are a group of friends: Arnfinn Engeset, Hallvar Thoresen and Kjetil Horgen Øiseth who decided to build their “dream homes” together. The idea grew into a greater concept and eventually led to an investment project.

“The green light on the development of Bluepoint is music to local developers ears, as in these recent tough times, many projects, including Bluepoint, have had to be put on hold, but also sadly some developments have been forced to close, we are fortunate that we were able to ride out the global economic storm,” Mr. Øiseth said.
