Nov. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Where does pharmaceutical innovation occur? Which nations are leading pharmaceutical innovation, and which are emerging as future leaders?

DrugPatentWatch.com is proud to announce the publication of a research paper in the latest issue of Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, profiling trends in the global distribution of pharmaceutical innovation.

This paper uses a new methdology -- a focus on the location of drug inventors -- to track trends in locations of drug discovery.

Findings include:
- Inventors in the United States are responsible for the majority of drugs approved over the past decade
- Seven other countries (United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Belgium) are responsible for the bulk of innovation outside the United States
- Only one Indian inventor and two Chinese inventors were observed

The complete paper is available on Nature Reviews Drug Development's website at http://www.nature.com/nrd/journal/v9/n11/full/nrd3298.html
