HEC Scholar Completes PhD from The Netherlands


HEC scholar Mr. Muhammad Jahangir has completed his PhD from Leiden University, The Netherlands under “Overseas Scholarship Scheme for MS/MPhil Leading to PhD in Selected Fields.” The title of his thesis was “Stress Response and Health Affecting Compounds in Brassicaceae”.


Besides studies, Dr. Jahangir was also engaged for more than two years with Halal Feed and Food Inspection Authority (HFFIA), The Netherlands, as Halal Auditor in and out European Union.


After his return from The Netherlands, he along with a group of HEC scholars has established Halal Assessment and Certification Institute in Pakistan (www.halaltayyab.com), whose main focus is halal assessment and certification of food, feed cosmetics, pharmaceutical and other consumer products.


“This is because of HEC funding that I was able to complete my degree. My studies enabled me to invest in Pakistan for social and religious cause of halal and tayyab”, says Dr. Jahangir.


Apart from attending national and international conferences, he has three poster, three national and six international journal publications to his credit.
