Ware Malcomb Founders Recognized By University Of Arizona

Oct. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- William (Bill) Ware and William (Bill) E. Malcomb, founders of Irvine-based design firm Ware Malcomb, have been recognized by the University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture as joint recipients of the 2010 Alumnus of the Year Award. The awards presentation was held at the University of Arizona Student Union Memorial Center Grand Ballroom on Friday, October 22, 2010.

The Alumnus of the Year Awards honor alumni from each University of Arizona college who have uniquely demonstrated a commitment to the college’s success and mission through professional achievement, service, or support. Bill Malcomb and Bill Ware were selected for being guiding examples of creativity, problem solving, customer responsive service, and ethical business practice, building a strong and admired company.  They created an endowed scholarship at University of Arizona, awarded to students based upon their Capstone Project, the final project completed in year five of Architecture school. Students who demonstrate the greatest balance between design and technical skill, as well as communicate their design process most clearly, are eligible for the scholarship.

Malcomb and William Ware by awarding them with the Alumni of the Year Award,” said Janice Cervelli, Dean of the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. “It is the College’s greatest honor given only once in the past to Jane Weinzapfel of Boston, MA, in 2006. Bill and Bill’s values have been the foundation of their success. Their lifetime achievements in business, in architectural design, and in public service more than demonstrate the excellence of their education and dedication to the design profession.”

Both Ware and Malcomb graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture in 1966. They founded Ware & Malcomb, Architects, Inc. in Irvine, California on April 1, 1972. (The firm changed names to Ware Malcomb in 2001.) Ware Malcomb has employed over 35 University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture students throughout is 38 year history. Currently, four members of the firm’s senior team, including Shareholder/Board Member and past President, James Williams, are University of Arizona graduates.
