| Advanced Practice Strategies (APS) Launches Continuing Legal Education (CLE) CoursesAPS today announced the launch of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course offerings geared towards lawyers litigating medical malpractice cases.
APS’s Demonstrative Evidence Group (DEG), the leading provider of jury education that creates a winning visual strategy through the use medical illustrations, has augmented these industry-leading, online CME courses using attorney commentary and real-life case studies to assist attorneys in understanding the importance of the medicine involved in medical malpractice cases. APS plans to reformat all of their current CME offerings for a legal audience in CLE format in order to provide lawyers with not only the gold-standard training that clinicians use in hospital settings to reduce risk and increase patient safety, but also legal information pertinent to medical malpractice cases. “To properly try a medical malpractice case, it is imperative the attorney has a thorough knowledge of the subject matter,” said Timothy Croke, Director of APS’s Demonstrative Evidence Group. “Our new CLE offerings will enable counsel to communicate with experts on the expert’s level and obtain a comprehensive understanding of the clinical issues at hand. We are confident this increased understanding will enhance counsel’s ability to successfully litigate a medical malpractice case.” Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring for Legal Teams serves as an introduction to critical physiologic and patient care concepts in fetal heart monitoring that provides lawyers with an overview of the information necessary to perform fetal assessment. Advanced Fetal Assessment and Monitoring for Legal Teams: Pattern Definition and Nomenclature uses real-life case studies to provide a comprehensive view of what goes into patterns and decisions from fetal assessment and monitoring. After completing this course, students will be able to: • Define and identify the different components of a fetal heart rate tracing. • Identify the most common fetal heart rate patterns. • Describe maternal and fetal causes of different patterns. • Explain the NICHD standard categorization of Category I, Category II, and Category III patterns. • List the characteristics of each category of pattern. • Describe the difficulties in managing Category II patterns.
