| ![]() Reality TV Show Searching For “Extreme Green” City-Dwellers to Be Part Of SeriesEntrepreneur and local production crew launch a contest, searching nationwide for the star of their next episode in original "green" television series
By: SNO Public Relations LLC “About a million people want to reduce their footprint, but can’t leave the city,” said host and producer Rodman Schley. “We thought, let’s make it happen in town and why not educate people with a fun show?” Now Schley and his Denver production crew are launching a nationwide search for the next star of “The Urban Conversion.” The Urban Conversion is a documentary series that will take on the whole universe of Green urban living with a twist – Rodman doesn’t have a clue about what it means to “Live Green.” Poking fun at himself, the pilot episode focuses on Rodman’s visit to a Denver woman’s city home turned urban farm--- her yard is tilled front to back, and she’s raising not only a garden full of food--- but goats and chickens in her back yard too. Rodman rolls up his sleeves and gets to milking and shoveling. The series will follow his adventures across the country, finding more “extreme Green” characters along the way. Clips can be viewed on their website. "The idea was born out of my wife’s desire to move to a farm. Get out of the city, get off the grid,” Rodman says. “For me, I had too many businesses in town so it would be hard to commute in. We had a bit of ‘what should we do here?’ How can we make less of an impact on the environment, but in an urban setting?” Rodman has joined forces with two talented Colorado directors and producers with local company Blue Fusion to produce the series, Timothy Nyman and Colin Hartin. Both have been involved in the production of programming for networks such as A&E, VH1, MTV, Outdoor Channel, PBS, Discovery Networks, Spike TV and the History Channel. The production team is busy shooting more shows for the series, and they have already begun pitching the pilot episode to national TV networks. With an eye towards even the more casual environmentalist, the shows play out like an “Idiot’s Guide” to being environmentally friendly-- even in a commuter, corporate-driven setting. Now they’re looking for nationwide submissions of urban Green living ideas uploaded to their website and Facebook page. "Our ultimate goal for the show is to help people see there are little things they can do," Schley said. "I see too many things on TV where we have to sacrifice, get rid of things. Even I, the guy who could barely recycle, have found you don’t have to go way out of comfort zone, or to sacrifice in order to positively impact your environment.” Contest details can be found on their website at: www.theurbanconversion.com. Winners will be announced after the contest deadline of January 15, 2011. # # # The Urban Conversion is best described as an urban homesteading guide for dummies. Host Rodman Schley is a fiscally conservative businessman, who is on a socially responsible quest. In doing so, he inserts himself into “extreme green” situations. End
