Media Advisory/Daybook Item: Actor Brian Dennehy to Receive Eugene O'Neill Award Tonight

Oct. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- WHO: Best known for his many film and TV appearances, two-time Tony award winner Brian Dennehy will be honored on Monday more for his stage work, especially for his interpretations of the work of playwright Eugene O’Neill.  Presenting the award to Dennehy will be last year’s O’Neill Award winner, Pulitzer Prize winning novelist William Kennedy.

WHAT: The Eugene O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to a writer, actor or actress, musician, painter or other type of artist who has created a body of work that places them among the great artists and entertainers of all time.  

WHEN: TONIGHT, Monday, October 18, 2010, doors open at 6:00 PM for a cocktail reception with live Irish traditional music, with the award presentation program set to begin at 7:00 PM.

WHY: The Eugene O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award Celebration, is the signature event of Irish American Writers & Artists, Inc. a non-profit organization created to celebrate the achievements of Irish American writers and artists, past and present and to highlight, energize and encourage Irish Americans working in the arts. Board members include writers Peter Quinn, TJ English, Pete Hamill, Malachy McCourt, Mary Pat Kelly, Michael Patrick MacDonald, writer/musician Larry Kirwain and Celtic singer/songwriter Ashley Davis.
