Oct. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- CHARLOTTE, NC (October 7, 2010) - Those 55 and old in the Midlands region surrounding Columbia, SC (and elsewhere in South Carolina) are in for an educational treat Oct. 20 from 1 - 4:30 p.m at the Columbia Convention Center. Palmetto Health is teaming up with the National Active Retirement Association (NARA) and Retirement Lifestyles magazine to present a free seminar:  "Life after 55:  An Afternoon of Learning."

There are specific issues related to growing old or helping an aging parent. The roster for the event will include national and regional experts and is designed to help mature consumers live a better life.

Featured speakers include:  Dick Ambrosius of Sioux Falls, SC, a noted aging expert, author and brain fitness executive. He'll talk a little about issues related to aging as well as how you can keep your brain fit.

Adriane G. Berg is the Emmy Award winning television host of "IRS Tax Beat." She is the host/creator of the nation's only show on longevity "Longevity Club Radio."

Adriane is money columnist for "Balance Magazine," and the author of over a dozen books on personal finance, including two best sellers-- "Your Wealthbuilding Years," Newmarket Press, and "The Totally Awesome Money Book For Kids," Newmarket Press, which has been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. "How Not To Go Broke At 102, Achieving Everlasting Wealth," a John Wiley & Sons lead book, 2008, brought world wide acclaim as it explores personal and public issues regarding the mega trend of longevity.

Ms. Berg is a founder of the Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and served as Chair of the New York State Bar Association's Subcommittee on Estate Planning. She was recently named to the U.S. Treasury Greater New York Committee for Savings Awareness and is a former board member of the International Association for Financial Planners, among many professional organizations. She holds a J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where she was an Editor of the Law Review.

Joining Dick and Adriane will be experts on financial planning, reverse mortgages, retirement living options, remodeling to remain at home and learning from SeniorSmart Research.

All sessions above are free but you must register. Those wishing to attend an optional presentation by Dr. Joe Gribbin, one of America's premier authorities on Social Security at 10 a.m. may do so for a $25 fee which includes a box lunch.

annual conference being held in Columbia, Oct 20-22 for members of the
