Follow on Google News | ![]() Collaboration Creates 2011 Calendar for Humane SocietyA fundraiser calendar? Sure. A work of art? Definitely! When Imagemakers and Mutt Shots teamed up on a fundraiser for the Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society, the result is truly a work of art.
By: Mary Foster "We decided Imagemakers would be the best design firm to work with on this project. They do great work, have a great reputation and they are local, so we chose them and we’re glad we did. The quality of the calendar is much higher because of their work,” Susan Clasen, president of the Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society, said. The idea for the calendar was Peery’s, who has worked with both the Pottawatomie County and Riley County humane societies since starting her pet photography business late last year. “Animal shelters always need fund raisers, so I thought this would be a good project for our collaboration,” In the calendar you will meet Cody, who passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen test two months after adoption and, according to his new owner, “fills his new home with positive energy.” Then there’s Max, who loves to play then crash on the couch with his forever family, and Duke, who also loves to play. In fact, Duke prefers to play fetch over eating treats. The calendar is filled with playful portraits and warm tales of how these animals were rescued and are now touching the hearts of their new owners. “It’s a very powerful calendar and the finished product is gorgeous. Imagemakers did such a good job,” Peery said, adding that she was amazed with the ease that Imagemakers understood the project and then delivered on their first attempt. “I met with Mary, told her about our vision and we talked a little bit about the project. I figured they’d put something together and then we’d make changes back and forth a few times, but when I saw their first layout they had nailed it.” For Mary Foster, project manager at Imagemakers, working on the calendar was a labor of love. “Dan (Holmgren, creative director of Imagemakers) Clasen hopes the same, but she and her team of volunteers have already been touched by seeing the dogs that they helped rescue and place in good homes featured in the calendar. “We know these dogs and most came from terrible circumstances. Seeing them now so happy and looking so good really lifts us up and renews our passion for what we’re trying to do. The calendar is really wonderful. Nadja’ The 2011 calendar is now available through the Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society website, www.pottcountyhs.petfinder.com and at the society’s adoption events at Petco in Manhattan the first and third weekend of every month.
