The Coffee Pot is of extremely heavy gauge and is cast and repousse with allegorical figures and scrolling foliage on a striated background. The pot is of tapered cylindrical form with a shaped domed lid decorated with leafage and scrollwork with a leaf capped finial. The double “C” scroll handle and swan neck spout are leaf capped, the whole is raised on a molded rim foot. This coffee pot is a prime example of the art of the American silversmith at the end of the 19th century. Tiffany was producing entire silver services for the homes of the wealthy throughout the country and exporting pieces to their stores in Paris and London at the same time. http://www.nelsonandnelsonantiques.com/ Paulding Farnum was one of Tiffany’s most prolific designers. He was the designer of Tiffany’s Renaissance pattern flatware as well as the renowned Adams Vase now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This particular piece has English import marks for London, 1900 on the side of the body as well as the lid’s rim. The pot is fully hallmarked with Tiffany’s maker’s marks. The coffee pot weighs 21 Troy Ounces and is in excellent condition.
