Oct. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- BlackBloggerNetwork.com is launching a monthly contest to encourage Black Bloggers to address pertinent issues affecting Black communities globally. Each month BBN will post a new topic. Bloggers will take the topic and write a 500 words or less response. Every month, the best blogger will win a $100 cash prize along with a feature as The Black Blogger Network’s Blogger of the Month. “There are so many talented Black bloggers and writers out there. We want to reward them for their work and let their voices be heard,” said Jessica Ann Mitchell the owner of The Black Blogger Network.
Mitchell believes that Black bloggers have a duty to fulfill. According to Mitchell, Black bloggers follow in the same traditions of Ida B. Wells and Frederick Douglas, two prolific African Americans who utilized the media of their time to incite change in the world. Mitchell, who is also the owner of The Black Love Speak Column and Social Media Knowledge, hopes that during this new age of technology and social media advancement, more people will use these mechanisms to spread knowledge. The Black Blogger Network hopes that not only African Americans participate but also Africans, Afro-Latinos, and people of color all over the world.
October is the first month of the contest. Participants can begin submitting their articles on Monday October fourth until Monday October 18th.  All articles will be posted on The Black Blogger Network website and the winner will be announced on Wednesday October 27th. Articles will be judged based levels of critical analysis, information, creativity, and passion. Winners will receive a $100 cash prize, a special certificate from the Black Blogger Network, and an image banner for their website declaring them an official champion of Black Blogger Battles.
Mitchell hopes that this contest will encourage Black bloggers to continue writing and pursuing their goals. Furthermore, she hopes that this contest will unite bloggers around the common goal of inciting change and creating a better world for future generations.
