49 Women Share their Stories in a Powerful Anthology to Inspire Others

When women come together, they generally do so for a reason. Speaking Your Truth contributing authors open up their hearts to share their most trying moments, memories of tragedy, and doses of hope and inspiration.

As human beings we experience many events over the course of our lives, yet we seldom get to share them in a way that leads to change, transformation for others who may be experiencing something similar.  

Take for example Mary Owens, a contributing author who has never shared her story with anyone else, even her family up until this point. Many have never divulged the details like this before, including Andrea Costantine, Lisa Shultz, and Paula Robbins.

“It takes a lot of courage to share your story publicly. Personally, it’s taken me almost ten years to talk about what happened to me in my first marriage,” says co-author Lisa Shultz.

When co-author Lisa Shultz had the idea in the summer of 2009 she had no idea how much impact this book would begin to have on the women who were involved in it. By January of 2010 Andrea Costantine joined forces with Lisa and they collected over 50 entries.

The stories were rolling in even without a working title. Yet, as Lisa and Andrea read the submissions it was obvious the book was about women finally stepping out and speaking their truth.  Speaking Your Truth is inspiring conversations among women who are now realizing the power behind releasing old stories that have lived within them for many years. Some silently and others very obvious.

“Speaking Your Truth has a ripple effect on people,” says co-author Andrea Costantine. “These stories are getting people to speak up, share what’s really happened in their life, and come together because of it.”
