Sept. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- FUTURAWIND INC., a Los Angeles, California based engineering firm that develops advanced and reliable wind turbine technology for licensing to wind turbine manufacturers, has expanded their product line to include additional Sub-Megawatt Class Wind Turbines suitable for homes, farms, small businesses, and communities. The entire product line now includes wind turbines rated from 250 kW to 25 MW, and all designs are available for licensing and technology transfer effective immediately.

The FUTURAWIND product line includes the following wind turbines: 250 kW, 500 kW, 600 kW, 750 kW, 1.5 MW, 2 MW, 2.5 MW, 3 MW, and 4 MW units utilizing direct-drive generators available for land-based projects in IEC wind classes I, II and III. And, the company is also developing wind turbines of 5 MW, 10 MW, and 25 MW for the Off-Shore market. All FUTURAWIND wind turbines are based on the classic European design platform consisting of a 3-bladed, up-wind oriented, horizontal-axis, tubular steel tower concept, and employ advanced materials and design concepts, proven components and suppliers, modularity for logistics and transportation optimization, sustainable manufacturing processes, industry-leading reliability, and service-friendly features.

Mr. Jon Russell McKee, Chief Operating Officer, stated, "our portfolio of wind turbine designs with the addition of sub-megawatt turbines enables us to be flexible and assist manufacturers that want to enter any wind market including small wind, large utility-scale, or off-shore."

The company uses advanced and proven components from internationally-based suppliers integrated into purpose-engineered wind turbine systems to achieve industry-leading reliability. Mr. Jody Shadden, President & CEO of FUTURAWIND, says, "we begin each of our wind turbine engineering programs with Design-for-Six-Sigma (DFSS) methodology and manage the design process via an 8-step toll-gate based design control process in order to insure the highest quality designs in the industry, always focusing on the highest reliability possible."

With the wide range of wind turbine designs now available for licensing from FUTURAWIND, companies that have been considering entering the wind turbine manufacturing business have the opportunity to begin operations quickly with their own unique design.
